Dean Price

Dean Price was an options market maker on the SFE's open outcry options pits (Bank Bills, Bonds and Share Price Index futures) from 1991 to 1998. From 1999 to 2004, Dean worked for Duke Energy Australia and as Electricity Trading Manager was responsible for managing Duke's physical electricity generation portfolio and financial trading team, trading Over the Counter and exchange traded derivatives and physical generation dispatch in the Australian National Electricity Market. Dean joined d-cyphaTrade in 2004 as General Manager, with an extensive network of front office and senior management contacts across the Australian financial and energy markets and a practitioner's understanding of futures and OTC trading gained from 13 years of derivative (and physical) proprietary trading across a diverse range of Australasian markets.

Catherine Ford

Catherine Ford has over 15 years experience in the Energy Futures Industry. Catherine’s expertise was enhanced through spending 11 years immersed in the active and mature European Energy Markets. After 6 years in Geneva, Switzerland, Catherine was transferred to London, UK in 1996 and promoted to Manager of European Energy Broking for the large US commodity-trading house, Cargill Investor Services (1990 – 2001). She has extensive experience dealing for institutional customers handling multimillion-dollar accounts, advising on market outcomes and an in-depth understanding of the specific requirements technical characteristics of financial energy markets. Since joining d-cyphaTrade, in July 2002, Catherine has had direct responsibility for building the d-cyphaTrade SFE Electricity Futures market through developing and maintaining all customer relationships, including extensive training and information initiatives for Market Participants. In addition, she has been instrumental in both the initial and ongoing product development with the Sydney Futures Exchange in establishing the d-cypha Futures and Options Products.

Thomas Schmitz

Thomas Schmitz started his career in 1994 with a bulge bracket investment bank where he worked in various departments including corporate finance and trade finance. He moved to Enron Europe in early 2000 where he first covered third party access to the German gas transmission networks before moving into physical power trading for continental European markets. From 2002 onwards Thomas worked for various energy commodity trading franchises where he was responsible primarily for structured energy commodity transactions such as dark and spark spreads but also cross commodity deals incorporating other commodities such as copper and aluminium. In 2005 he joined BNP Paribas’ energy commodities business where he was responsible for structured power, gas, coal and carbon transactions. In 2006 Thomas worked briefly for the Australian Energy Regulator before moving back to Europe to run the Continental European origination business for a major physical commodity trader with a product suite covering physical and financial power, gas, coal and carbon as well as renewable energy products. Thomas recently joined d-cyphaTrade as Executive Manager bringing unique expertise to the team, including over 5 years of experience from international carbon trading markets including the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and Kyoto ETS.

Melissa Tan joined the d-cyphaTrade Team in July 2006 with tertiary qualifications in Economics, Marketing and Finance. Melissa actively contributes to product development and marketing support and is responsible for managing customer relationships and co-ordinating customer support services. Melissa manages d-cyphaTrade client services such as the online futures market data service, training workshops and on-request information assistance for wholesale market participants.
